Tufts Medical Center in Boston partnered with us to install its Gamma Knife.
"At the time of our Gamma Knife installation, we were facing capital constraints and wanted a partner who could share the risk and help us upgrade the equipment when needed," says Denise Schepici, Senior Vice President of Clinical Services at Tufts Medical Center. "In light of the global financial crisis, we're glad we were able to spend less upfront and still offer the technology we needed to stay competitive." "
American Shared Hospital Services originally partnered with Tufts Medical Center to open its Gamma Knife Center in 1999. Like many of our clinical partners, Tufts Medical Center had faced challenges in allocating the capital needed for this investment but wanted to be a leader in providing advanced technology to its patients. By partnering with American Shared, Tufts Medical Center became the first and remains the only Gamma Knife Center in Massachusetts and Northern New England offering Leksell Gamma Knife technology.
In addition to its Gamma Knife, Tufts Medical Center signed an agreement with American Shared to install an Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) system and Computed Tomography (CT) simulator as part of a complete radiation therapy department upgrade.
Commented David E. Wazer, M.D., Radiation Oncologist-in-Chief at Tufts MC’s Department of Radiation Oncology, "American Shared has demonstrated its commitment to providing technologically advanced radiation oncology services based on a sound business model. This agreement assures that Tufts Medical Center will continue to provide state-of-the-art radiation oncology services to our patients with the most advanced technology available today and tomorrow."Back to Top
